*24 WOMEN EMPLOYEES AND 5 WOMEN GROUPS WERE FELICITATED*

Waltair Division is celebrating International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm and taken steps for recognition for the contributions of women employees. Various activities planned like gender sensitization programs, acknowledging outstanding achievements, and fostering a safe and inclusive working environment.

Today, on 06.03.2024, a seminar was organised Chaired by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Saurabh Prasad at DRM Conference Hall, Dondaprathi. Professor K Sitamanikyam from the College for Law, Andhra University, delivered a talk on gender sensitization. The focus was on ensuring a safe working space for women, emphasizing the importance of awareness and understanding.

24 frontline women employees in safety and front-line offices (Railway Protection Force, Commercial, Operating, Engineering, Medical) received Merit Certificates along with cash awards for their outstanding contributions. Recognition was also extended to 5 all-women groups, such as station masters, Meri Saheli of RPF, and an all-women bogie maintenance team. These groups received group certificates of merit and cash awards for their collective achievements.

Women Awardees Programs are being conducted in multiple locations, including Visakhapatnam, Koraput, Vizianagaram, Diesel Loco Shed, Electrical Loco Shed, and Multi Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute. The program, organized by the welfare wing of the Personnel Department, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Shri Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, involved women employees across different grades. The initiative aimed to recognize and appreciate the efforts of women in various departments.

An all-women crew coaching train is being planned to run on the eve of International Women’s Day. This initiative not only highlights the achievements of women in the railway sector but also serves as a symbol of empowerment and equality.

Speaking on the occasion Divisional Railway Manager Shri Saurabh Prasad said that these activities collectively contribute to foster supportive and empowering workplace for women across the Waltair Division, showcasing the division’s commitment to gender equality and recognizing the valuable contributions of women employees.
